A Whitehorse woman who was fired from her job with the Yukon Workers' Compensation, Health and Safety Board has taken her case to the territory's Appeal Court — not to dispute the firing itself, but to argue she's entitled to workers' compensation benefits because of the resulting stress. |

May 29th 2002 is a date injured workers in British Columbia won’t quickly forget. The British Columbia Government under the Liberal Party slashed the income of Injured Worker’s and used the rational that rising deficits within the WCB, were the reason such a drastic move was necessary. Northern employers will receive a 30 per cent rebate on their paid 2006 assessment returns, the Workers' Compensation Board of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut announced last week. The one-time rebate, which totals almost $10.5 million, is something that's never been done before, said John Doyle, director of corporate services. |
