Hello Fellow Injured Workers and Concerned Citizens, I am in shock today, so I don't know how this will come out. My family doctors office called Sunday and made an appointment for me to see her Monday afternoon. I called Wheelways to arrange transporation to her office immediately but was told they were not sure they could fit me in and instructed me to call in the morning. I did but was then told there was no way they could fit me in. What to do? I cannot walk that far out and back. I have ten dollars for groceries until the 16th of Feb, I can't afford a cab. The bus is too trying physically to walk to the stop and stand waiting both ways. I called a worker with Eastern Health and she okayed a cab for me promptly. Problem solved with much fear of missing my appointment. I am not fit enough to walk that far. It is only a forty minute walk but I cannot do it. I want to but cannot. The doctor informed me of the specialist report by stating he says I need acupuncture, physio, and massage therapy. She said have I tried acupuncture and I said no. I told her physio would have to be in a pool only. I cannot lift weights, jog on the spot, or any other strenuous exercise such as situps or pushups. She offered me hope for my pain and aching body. Then she said; "You will have to get WSIB Ontario to okay your therapy." I am being refused treatment even though all the doctors here know I have these injuries as a result of the accident. WSIB will not help, and they force me into appeals on any stupid excuse they can find. They will not contact my doctors directly, and the doctors here will not contact WSIB ONTARIO. I am a prisoner in my house. Suffering in pain every minute waking and asleep. I called three lawyers and got one answering machine, one refusal to even consider my case, and one rude arrogant bully that laughed because I cannot comply with WSIB demands to provide test results because the doctors here have totally abandoned me. He told me he worked on a committee with WHSCC here. I told him all the lawyers here are a disgrace to their profession. That I was going to see people like him and his entire ilk pay for their abuses. >From now on any lawyer I contact and he refuses to help me will also be accountable for abusing me. I don't know how much more abuse I can take. Three years I have been housebound and everyone in society disrespecting me, abusing me in every way. There is no help for the injured in Newfoundland I told the doctor I am a Canadian citizen, forced onto welfare, having my rights to justice illegally removed from me, I was born here and have lived here since 1985 after coming home after my accident because I wanted to try and start my life again. Instead all I receive is more abuse. I want to work and all aid to retrain was withheld from me by everyone. They are trying to kill me. I told her I am being abused and because WSIB and the doctors here have made it impossible to comply with their many demands then I will have to go to court. I told her this was bad faith, that she is my doctor, she is not WSIB's. She owes them no allegiance, I am her patient, yet she refuses to treat me properly or to provide comprehensive tests so I can get my appeals finished. They know the pain and poverty and constant abuse will kill me. My blood pressure is still out of whack, stress is my only companion; pain the monkey on my back. What have I done to you so bad that you would treat me so? I'm sorry. Please forgive me. Please. Tell me what I have done to deserve this. This is what the private health care system is all about. It takes all your rights and the insurance corporations dictate what treatment you can get or not. This would not be happening if we had universal health care. That system is now dead in Canada. I am the proof. Even though all the doctors here know I am deserving of compensation, are fully aware my injuries and disability and impairment are a direct result of the accident, none will effectively advocate on my behalf. This doctor told me she would but she has only delayed treatments and I insisted she make an appointment with Doctor Noftall to see if I can get a brace for my leg so my knee stops falling out and I crumble. I have been asking for a comprehensive medical to comply with appeals and to get medical treatment but as always the Newfoundland medical people thwart me. Wake up! I am a person first and foremost! I am a Canadian citizen not a prisoner! I am a son, a friend, a volunteer, sober, worth something, and I will not let you take my dignity and self worth anymore. It is all you who are to blame for this mess. All society. This is the Canadian Gulag, witness the physical and emotional torture of a live human being. Be a witness to my pain and suffering. But don't tell me to shut up and to not fight for what's mine. Every right I have as a citizen has been taken from me and all society is abusing me needlessly. It is a sign of the end of our civilization from the rot within. We have created a society where personal rights are abused daily in favour of corporate interests. This trend to Fascism is spreading rapidly and disparate people all over North America are suffering. Our society is being shaken to the core when one such as me cannot find a way to receive proper and long overdue compensation. I am being sorely, vexatiously, purposefully, with malice and forethought, abused by this WCB system that government has full knowledge of their many crimes and in fact that is what they set up WCB's for. To take our rights and destroy us in every way. Once broken, don't fix, just dump onto welfare and don't let them up. They keep me a prisoner of pain and poverty and will not let me go. No matter what I do, they will find a way to ensure I end up suffering in pain with no treatment and being bullied constantly by all authorities. I am right, all the rest of society is wrong. Period. Injured workers gave up the right to sue IN EXCHANGE FOR WAGE LOSS AND MEDICAL CARE! We did not do that to have ALL our rights taken and be left to rot. The contract between the workers of Canada and our governments in regards to workers compensation has been broken beyond repair. Thousands are suffering right now all across Canada, by being denied proper health care, and are suffering the ravages of poverty because they are not being retrained, and many are committing suicide. This seems to be the goal of government, to ensure we commit suicide so we can then be written off the books. You certainly have to wonder why government does not step up to the plate and protect their citizens. Instead they turn a blind eye to the whole sordid affair. They set it up to favour the corporations at the expense of justice to the most vulnerable people we have in society. This is discrimination on the part of government and they are wholly to blame for this mess. When will you all wake up and realize your actions are the direct cause of the extremely high suicide rate amongst permanently disabled workers. To know that people are literally dieing because of someone elses actions puts everyone of you government employees at risk of prosecution because you know what is happening and are not speaking out as you should be. We can not let any insurance company dictate who gets medical care and who doesn’t. If you need the care you get it. Simple. Figure out who pays later. Doctors honour your oaths and ethics as presented to you by the Canadian and Newfoundland medical associations. Your first duty is to your “patient”. We are not “health care consumers” or “clients”, We are real human beings with medical needs to relieve us of our pain and suffering. You are all doing exactly the opposite of what you are supposed to be doing. And don’t believe WCB’s telling you we will bankrupt business if they have to pay. Every one of them is the richest in the country. As citizens you cannot allow a Fascist system which takes all rights from a citizen away for no reason. We are all equal and our laws state that. So why do we have a different level of law for injured workers. We are being directly targeted by unfair and unjust laws, policies and procedures. That is classic discrimination and is grounds for a class action against the Provincial and Federal governments. Like the Jews of Hitlers Germany, the injured workers of Canada are scorned, ridiculed, stripped of human, medical, and legal rights, forced into poverty, mentally, emotionally, and physically abused, and society says ‘its not my job”, “I didn’t know”, “I can’t do anything about that”, and that is the biggest lie. We are all responsible by law and moral values to expose any discrimination or abuse of Canadian citizens. Do not say the abuse does not exist. I am living proof and you all know it. The overwhelming abundance of court cases against WCB’s, the lives lost because of suicides which are many in every Province, the broken homes and families of injured workers, all tell a sad tale of institutionalized abuse started, planned, and orchestrated, by our governments against its own citizens.
