Governments Latest Blatant Attack On Injured Workers
Canadians better become aware that the press
must be under censorship, or at best have lost their interest in
protecting Canadians.
If the press had any credibility, how could
they publish a story, and not see the single greatest issue of interest
to each and every employee in
Having waited for a week for someone in the
press to bring this most vile Government legislation to the public, I
would have to hazard the guess they have no intent on running the story.
If the government of
Newfoundland and Labrador have their way, they will by way of contract
legislation, create a unprecedented new law that allows the government
to fire injured employees if it is serious enough that they will not be
returning to work quickly.
A CBC News report deals with the
Governments first demand out of the two issues of contention, in
relation to the possible strike by the Nurses Union. See the quote below

“The first would allow the
government to fire any nurse who is on workers compensation for a long
period of time and is unable to return to work.”
Once the precedent is set, it will
spread like a wildfire across
All Canadians have the right to not
become a disposable commodity. This legislation should it pass, would
indeed insure all injured workers have no value, have no rights to
compensation. Most injured workers today can attest to having only one
income, namely the Canada Pension Plan.
The real problem that exists today
is that tax payer is funding injured workers, albeit at a cost that only
marginally surpasses social assistance.
The Workers Compensation Board
today is only an insurance policy to insure legitimate injured workers
never get to claim compensation for their injuries.
To add insult to injury, now they
would like the right to fire you for getting injured.
