Governments Latest Blatant Attack On Injured Workers

 WCBCANADA EDITORIAL

Canadians better become aware that the press must be under censorship, or at best have lost their interest in protecting Canadians.

If the press had any credibility, how could they publish a story, and not see the single greatest issue of interest to each and every employee in Canada?

Having waited for a week for someone in the press to bring this most vile Government legislation to the public, I would have to hazard the guess they have no intent on running the story.

If the government of Newfoundland and Labrador have their way, they will by way of contract legislation, create a unprecedented new law that allows the government to fire injured employees if it is serious enough that they will not be returning to work quickly.

A CBC News report deals with the Governments first demand out of the two issues of contention, in relation to the possible strike by the Nurses Union. See the quote below from the CBC news article.

The first would allow the government to fire any nurse who is on workers compensation for a long period of time and is unable to return to work.”

Once the precedent is set, it will spread like a wildfire across Canada, and equally as quickly into the private sector.

All Canadians have the right to not become a disposable commodity. This legislation should it pass, would indeed insure all injured workers have no value, have no rights to compensation. Most injured workers today can attest to having only one income, namely the Canada Pension Plan.

The real problem that exists today is that tax payer is funding injured workers, albeit at a cost that only marginally surpasses social assistance.

The Workers Compensation Board today is only an insurance policy to insure legitimate injured workers never get to claim compensation for their injuries.

To add insult to injury, now they would like the right to fire you for getting injured.

The only reference to this provided by the press is this story by the CBC
